Guess

Okay, so this is how it works, I am going to describe something and then you are, please, going to leave a nice comment on my blog saying what you think that something that I described is. In the comment please leave a blog address or wiki or a place that I can say if you’re right.

Right so um…… let me think…… ah…… okay got it.

Silver and shiny they were taken to there new home and work place. Where under the rules of there boss/ bosses (usually about 1 to 6 maybe more!) they would live for almost what seems eternity. Families of identical looks and the species same shape, most of them serve their natural purpose.

The same routine happens every job assignment they are very clean and shiny when they set off and then complete their assignment and leave for a gigantic bath with heaps of bubbles and are dried with big towels and then sent on their way to their families again as some else has a job.

That happens for most of their lives and by the end when they are sacked they are not silver but rusted colour and black, such a sad ending!

Good so now do you know what I’m describing? Here I’ll give you a hint……… it is something that we use everyday in every country.

Good luck!

Mother Nature

Then began a time of deep pink, orange, red and yellow roses without thorns, the grass was gently swaying in the soft breeze, the trees whispered secrets across the meadows, the sky a pale blue against the red hot heat of the sun, white cotton-candy clouds drift across the endless sky and the air is as fresh as icy-sea that engulfs you when you jump in for a morning swim. A new sensation called of the beauties Mother Nature creates.

This was written by my friend, Christina, and I.

A poem made up by me!

Summer Trees

Covered in lush green shaded vegetation,
Exquisite blossoms of every colour flowering,
Sturdy trunks weave them selves through dry soils,
Holding up the eternal stunning beauty that those summer trees pretty display.

Swaying in the cool breeze,
Whispering gossip and secrets to one another high above our heads,
Shading us from the heat of the scorching sun,
The gorgeous gossipers of summer.

This My First Reading Task This Term

Jayne Ayre

Title: Jayne AyreAuthor: Charlotte Bronte

Publication: Penguin Books

Jayne Ayre was brought up by her aunt who didn’t like her just like her cousins. She never knew any of her parents or other family members. At the age of ten she was sent to boarding school where she was a student for six years and then taught for two.

She soon finds work as a governess, eventually falling in love with her boss. This is in the early 1800 and she makes many choices, finding out a lot about herself and others. It’s the story of the love and life of Jayne Ayre.

I found this was a very challenging read, Not because of how long it was, but because it was written as an autobiography. It didn’t move along very quickly. As I am a not a patient reader, I found this extremely hard to persevere with, though and I am glad that I did.

It was a love tale with a satisfying end to it. Charlotte Bronte isn’t the most descriptive writer but I don’t think it really mattered because if she had been more descriptive I think she might have ruined the book.

Overall this book has lead me to find yet another author that I enjoy and would recommend it book to anyone who enjoys an almost tame love story.

Hi everyone!

Attention!Anyone who does read this post on this blog, I would be very appreciative if you were to write your thoughts about the saying ‘Is the Pen mightier than the Sword?’It is my inquiry question and my research questions are about definitions of the quote, so my question to you: how do you interpret the quote? And in the terms of ways to gain power are word (the pen) mightier than force or violence? (Sword) If you can think up anyone who has gained power, authority, leader etc. by either the sword or pen please say! I am getting desperate and realised that I have a blog which is opinions, not only my own opinion but others through comments! So, please write a comment to help me!Yes I know that inquiry means research but do you realise that I am researching other people’s takes on things and their opinions? Besides for many of my questions I would just be reading others opinions on other blogs or web pages! Please help! :)

Proper Argument

New Zealand’s School Canteens should Sell Only Healthy Foods!

In New Zealand there is an outrageous percent of obese people, in fact about one in two of our people are either overweight or obese! A great percentage of those people are children and teenagers. New Zealand is trying to make that level go down, as those obese people have an immense chance of getting type two diabetes and other life threatening diseases. One way that they are trying to lower and exclude obesity from our nation is by eliminating unhealthy food from school canteens selling stock. That means that our adolescents will be unable to purchase junk food from their canteens at school. That’s why we have the undecided answer of the question: should New Zealand’s school canteens only be able to sell healthy foods? I too am undecided so here I have an argument supporting both sides.

To begin with, if students are unable to obtain junk food at their school canteens they will have to settle with healthy food when they are to buy their lunch there. This will help as children are at school five days of the seven days of the week for most of the eleven to thirteen years that people are students. By selling healthy food we would be proving to the adolescent that healthy food could still taste good! And yet on the other hand there is no reason why our children cannot buy there lunch at another canteen or dairy. Obviously then being able have their lunch be the junk food that they then cannot purchase at their school. This would then make no difference to the obesity problems in our country.

Further more, schools should promote healthy foods to our young people, which is either not happening and/or sending the wrong message across selling the products. It is disturbing to think that our school canteens are selling unhealthy food to our children when there is such a high amount of obese people in our schools to make money! That’s like letting our nation become fat so they can gain money. In contrast though, our schools need money to educate our adolescents for later life. It is literally impossible to do so without money and a reliable consistent flow of money from the canteens is convenient for our schools. Selling only healthy food the schools will most likely find that they don’t get so much or not enough in flow as the children and teenagers may not like the healthy food being sold and buy the junk food else where.

What’s more is that the foods high in sugar can be disruptive during learning, it has been proven that the sugar can give children “high’s” and it also gives them a boost in energy for a few minutes or so but then drops their levels of concentration and learning capabilities to below what they were before their intake of the junk food. Healthy foods, though, gives them concentration levels high and keeps it at a steady high rate for longer. But then again not all sugar containing foods do create hyperactive kids, and if our young citizens are feeling active it means that they might go out and do some exercise which will help burn off a lot of the fat that is named obesity.

So after carefully considering both sides of those arguments both for and against New Zealand’s school canteens selling healthy foods only, I think that our schools should have only a menu of healthy foods to sell to our adolescents as school teachers work over twenty-four our weeks and deserve a class that aren’t hyperactive as it is important for our children to be educated to the fullest extent and be healthy to appreciate what they did learn in the real world in later life. I also think that our schools can make other money other ways if they are not profiting enough from selling the healthy foods only, and that our countries obese percentage of the people will go down if they are being encouraged to buy healthy food and it not so straight forward to find junk food to eat for lunch at school. Though I do not agree that not selling unhealthy foods at the schools will fix our problem it will help and it is a step forward to concurring it, so yes New Zealand’s schools should only be able to sell healthy foods to the countries adolescents.

Belmont Speech For The debating, ‘New Zealand Needs More immigrants’

Mr Chairman, Are you, aware of how many people aren’t getting the medical attention that they require, all because of the shortage in doctors and nurses? What about the babies in
Wellington who are unfortunately faced with cancer? They are being sent all the way to Auckland and
Christchurch to receive their medical requirements. And its not just doctors, there is the maintenance people too. Imagine there were two people, both wanting a job done by the one builder. The first person wants to have a house built and the second might want a piece of jib replaced, since there isn’t another builder this one can pick and choose the job he wants to do! The builder would most likely pick the house-building job than the jib replacement as he would get paid more and he is starting from scratch, a much easier money earner! Can you seriously deny that we need immigrants to fill our countries skilled labourers and professional’s shortages? And what about the pages of job vacancies advertised in the papers?  I’ve got an example here of an average section of job advertisements in the
Waikato times from this Wednesday… 7 pages! Just from the
Waikato, and just from the advertisements in the paper.Mr Chairman! If we have so many job vacancies we obviously need the immigrants to fill the spaces since we don’t have the people to do that! You can’t hide the fact that
New Zealand needs skilled labourers such as the people needed in Wednesdays paper: 3 police advertisements, 8 medical ones, 7 caregivers, and 29 receptionists and assistances! Those are just a few that I counted. Can you seriously deny that we need immigrants to fill our countries skilled labourers and professional’s shortages? Good infrastructure is never going to happen if we can’t get the skills that we need! And of course the opposition might argue by saying, “We can train our unemployed citizens for those skilled labourers we need,” I ask then, why haven’t we? And what’s wrong with bringing in people who already have the qualifications? They could arrive in the country in maybe even months instead of waiting for people to qualify fully in maybe 4 or 5-7 years for our own people to qualify. By then, who knows where this country will be! Besides, it’s been proved that a large number of those people will move to other countries to work, usually to try and pay off the outrageous student loan where they get more money for their jobs. But even before we can talk about that, have you thought that our capable unemployed evidently mustn’t be bothered enough to pick up even a paper to fill just 1 of those jobs even if it was just being a shop assistant? I don’t know about you, but I cant truly imagine any of them committing to being a doctor. So, can you seriously deny that we need immigrants to fill our countries skilled labourers and professional’s shortages? How? I ask you, is
New Zealand going to progress in this quickly changing world if we don’t have enough people to help in our short-staffed businesses?
New Zealand is not in any way going to stay alive as a country unless we have medical assistance to help keep the people alive! To make sure we do get these skilled labours
New Zealand need to target the immigrants who have the skills we need more of! The negative again may say, “but Mr Chairman! We don’t want
New Zealand over populated!” Well, I would like to say that it’s not over population we need to worry about but under population! At the rate that people are emigrating we need the immigrators to keep up a balance of migrates. As our people emigrate they leave houses for people to live in, equalling, space! Space for immigrants to live in, and since
New Zealand has so much farmland there is no reason why we can’t create bigger towns to accommodate them. While we might lose farmland for our farming industry, we will still have a lot and again there will be no
New Zealand if we cant get immigrants to fill our skills shortages! Can you seriously deny that we need immigrants to fill our countries skilled labourers and professional’s shortages even if we do have room to house them? Mr Chairman, we cannot deny any longer that
New Zealand needs more immigrants! No, we don’t want to become squished and overpopulated like china, Japan, India and those places, but why can’t we shuffle over just a little bit to accommodate people that can help our country? We need to face the facts; we need to target specific immigrants to enhance the quality of life in
New Zealand, for the benefit of all!!!!!

This Is My Speech For School,

ABCDE— well of course you all know the alphabet well should do at least! But any way the Alphabet, the set of letters used in the written language.  They are the letters that create words by being spelt, in a very confusing and concerning manner. Its done in such a confusing way that a lot of people find it hard to understand and learn. I hope you are as concerned about spelling as I am because it’s a very concerning thing to be concerned about! If you aren’t concerned by the time I finish talking you have a problem because I will go on for hours till you do, because as I say it a very concerning thing spelling.

For example, I was awake the other night and couldn’t get back to sleep and I suddenly began trying to workout why I am so hopeless at spelling, no matter how hard I try to get better I suck. After pondering at the thought for a long half hour the answer came to me, I am good at English so it’s definitely nothing to do with my English, but I think that it’s because of whoever came up with the rules of the words and the alphabet. As I said it’s a very concerning subject to be concerned about especially if I was up at night thinking about it!

Why is it such a concerning thing? Because if you think of the words, say stationary, fare, beer, hair, ear, deer, there, etc. the list just goes on! Those are Homonyms, definition? Word of same form as another but different meaning. Confusing? These confuse a lot of people, me probably most of all! Those words can all be spelt at least two ways if not more, for some there is even four variations! No matter how you spell those words they all sound the same! So why do we spell them differently? Okay so they may all mean completely different things but I’m sure that if you read the whole sentence in which they are placed, or paragraph, which you should know what you are reading about! Anyone should be able to workout what the writer was writing about. So there it is, why make it so confusing? I’m twelve years old and I struggle still with spelling!

Silent letters another annoying topic. What’s the point in have silent letters if there not acknowledged? What about psycho? It is spelt, P-S-Y-C-H-O which to me I don’t know about any of you but to me it seems like you would say it as, p sy c ho pyscho not syco it shouldn’t be there if it isn’t acknowledged! To me spelling is psycho! For example, anchor silent h, know, silent k and w, etc. to be honest I feel very sorry for the letters that aren’t heard! I am, and I’m sure that the unacknowledged letters are very concerned about the rules of spelling!

They make all these long words when the letter is the sound of the whole word! Doesn’t this just make life hard? Txt language people may say is hard to understand but I think that if they didn’t create such long words like are which can just be spelt as an r same with you and be, truly the words I and A are the only sane ones! Back to the point though is that we wouldn’t have so much txt language if there were shorter words, like say the P-H = the sound f makes so why don’t we spell it with an f if it makes the exact same sound? As in, say phone P-H-O-N-E why don’t we spell that with an f instead of p-h like this? F-o-n-e? And so if we used the easy txt language, as our formal language life would be easier!

I’ll start finish to now, as I don’t think you want me to carry on for an hour on this concerning spelling language, though I could, with this Question: If life is so difficult why don’t we make it easier if we can? So I leave you to ponder over my concern of spelling, and how we could make life that much easier for us all by changing the rules of spelling, but lets face it as if that will ever happen! So now I will finish my concerning concern about spelling with this poem,

A CHELLE

A CHELLE

A CHELLE

IS AFTA ME

AND THAT IS Y

I FLEE

I FLEE,

THIS CHELLE

THIS CHELLE

APPEARS 2 B

ON A VERY BIG CONCERNING SPELLING QUERY!
